What are hinges?
Hinges are used to connect two parts and create a pivot between them. Hinges are used to connect two parts together while allowing them to rotate relative to each other. Sheet metal usually have holes so you can use screws or bolts and form a knuckle. This allows a pin to pass through to make the connection between the two rotating parts. Door Hinges: Door hinges withstand the significant forces exerted by a door cantilevered from the jamb. They often include an adjustment to adjust the height and angle of the door.
Structural Frames and Trusses: Many systems are available for constructing truss frames from standard components. Examples include scaffolding that uses round tubing and T-slot aluminum profile systems. These systems often include specially designed hinges to create articulated connections between members.
Hinge Switches: Door hinges integrated with circuit breakers. They are used in doors and hatches to protect machinery and other safety applications that require interlocking.
Cylinder Mounting Hinges: Pneumatic and hydraulic cylinders often need to be supported with swivel joints at each end. They can be designed to hold a pin or a separate hinge part can be attached to their end faces.
